Awards and Recognition to Students

Rotary Club of Shillong appreciated and recognized 6 students from different city based schools studying in class XI . For example Shobhana Gupta Awards to the SSLC ( State Board Class X ) toppers ,2026 and Sailabala Awards to 3 deserving girl studentfrom economically underprivileged background studying in class XI in different city based schools from Arts, Science and Commerce streams. Anita and Ashok awards to 5 students to undergo Vocational Courses in Don Bosco , Shillong. These are given by utilizing the accumulated interest money from the deposits given by some families in memory of their beloved, who had left this world.

Inter School Quiz Competition Community Service

Inter School Quiz Competition

Rotary Club of Shillong organized an Inter School Quiz Competition on the 27 th May Wednesday 2026 , in the premises of Presbetarian H S School, Umroi. In the quiz students of eight schools from the nearby locality participated. There were sixteen teams comprising of four students each in the two preliminary rounds. In the third round eight teams were shortlisted based on the score. In the next round again four teams were selected. The four team competed in the final rounds and ultimately one winner and two runners up teams were declared by the Quiz master based on their scores.. Three trophies were given to three best teams and each student of the winning team ( all twelve students were gifted with a book and an umbrella each. All the participants , audience students and teachers of the neighbouring schools ( accompanying the participant students ) were served with light refreshment from the club .

Labour Day Celebration by Interactors.

The Interact Club of B K Bajoria School celebrated International labour Day at the School morning assembly on 1st May . 2026. Interactor Ananya highlighted the significance of Labour Day emphasizing that this day is dedicated by appreciating the hard work and dedication and support stuff who contribute greatly to the school society. They offered prayer and the Interactors presented a song as well. Two senior workers cut a cake and they were served with refreshments arranged by the Club members.

Egg Push Cart Project Community Service

Egg Push Cart Project

Three numbers of Egg Push Carts were handed over to three beneficiaries identified by our member with the help of Dorbar Sohra. These Push carts are sponsored by the National l Egg Co-ordination Committee ( NECC)., to support livelihood and self employment among the economically weaker sections of the society. The project aims to promote nutrition and food security and sustainable income to beneficiaries while strengthening Rotary s Community Service Outreach . Each cart is equipped with a gas burner, a battery system with light , cooking utensils, plates , spoons, stools etc. The carts were handed over to the beneficiaries on the 9th May, 2026 at a function held in Polo Resort, Sohra. The programme was well attended by the beneficiaries , their family members , villagers and the members of Hima Sohra along with our Club members.

Clean Drinkin Water Facility in School.(2)

Rotary Club of Shillong provided Clean Drinking Water Facility to the Shillong Vidyalaya H S School. The facility comprises of Aquaguard , Water Reservoir, water pump and stainless steel sink. The facility was inaguarated by President Chandana, Secretary Ashim and Project Director Kailash., on the 29 th April and handed over to the students comprising of both boys and girls. The girl students entertained us with a dance item ans another student has delivered a speech as well. Member Kailash distributed jalebis from his own shop Delhi Mistan Bhander to all the students.

Vocational Awards 2025-26

The Vocational Awards programme of our club was held on the 2nd March Monday at the premises of Shillong Club. This year five eminent organizations were selected by a committee of members. The Chief Guest of the programme was Dr S. P. Agarwala, Director North East Space Application Centre , Meghalaya.. Thses five organisation were , Ramkrishna Mission Ashram, Sohra, Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Shillong, Seng Biria U Khasi , Roilang Llivelihood Academy and Impulse NGo Network. The programme was well attended.

Celebration of Interact Week (2)

The Army Public school, Shillong, celebtated The Interact week this year by visiting a Spark School at Triashnong village near Mawlynrei . In the school there are 60 children from underprivileged section of society ,.all of them using only two classrooms . The Interectors have collected and gifted them story books, colors , clothes etc. They were also given food plates with puris, sabjis and halwa.The food was sponsored by Rtn Puri and they were accompanied by their mentor and Rtn Puri.

Gifting of items in Seng Khasi School , Mawphlang

Our Club gifted One Projector with screen and five computers to Seng Khasi School, Mawphlang on the 18 th October 2025.The projector and screen were provided by Rtn KS Elanbam. And t.he five computers were given by Rtn Abhishek Singhania. In addition to this some sports shoes were also provide to the students of upper classes facilitated by ACT, Meghalaya Chapter.. Eco- friendly bags were also distributed to the teachers and students sponsored by Rtn Manas Chaudhuri.

Durga Puja Pandal Hopping

Rotary Club of Shillong , like every year , this year too took the children of Hindu Mission Orphanage for Durga Puja Panda hopping around the town in a bus sponsored by the club .It started at 10 am in the morning and the children were dropped back at the orphanage by 3 ; 30 pm after providing lunch in a four star hotel , sponsored by a club member . They were given light refreshments en route inside the bus..No photos were clicked as it was prohibited by the concered authority.

Rotary Youth Leadership Award RYLA

Rotary Club of Orchid City , Shillong ,organised a two days RYLA in Pastoral Centre ,Shillong.on the 29th and 30 th August 2025. Our Club sponsored ( RS 3000 each ) Seven youths from different schools to attend the RYLA..All the seven youths attended the two day one night programme which concluded yesterday evening. Club President and two members attended the veledictory function yesterday evening.. It was a well attended and well organized workshop. All the seven youths sponsored by our club enjoyed the workshop to the fillest.

Observation of Maternal and Child Health month

Rotary Club Of Shillong observed the Maternal and Child Health Month by Celebrating the ORS week in Children"s Hospital Shillong. The young mothers were given demonstration on how to make oral rehydration solution and take care of the infants in case of diarrhea etc before can be taken to any medical centre . The programme was done to make the mothers aware of the risk of dehydration of infants and young children. and they were requested to spread the knowledge to the other mothers in their neighbourhood. Some mothers were asked to demontrate the same and they were gifted by the hospital authority as tokens of appreciation and encouragement. Chocolates and biscuit packes were given to the mothers and children from the club . The hospital authority served refreshment to the club members. Eleven members attended the awareness programme.
